SBI Keeps Branches Open on Sunday as Government Orders Public Banks to Operate

In line with a directive from the central government, State Bank of India will keep all its branches operational on Sunday, September 27, even though the day is a regular weekend holiday. The Finance Ministry has instructed all public sector banks and regional rural banks to remain open to serve the public’s banking needs.

The Reserve Bank of India has also authorized the full functioning of bank offices, ATMs and currency chests on that Sunday. These measures are intended to prevent a five‑day disruption that could have resulted if the strike had proceeded without any special arrangements.

Both the government and bank management have appealed to trade unions to reconsider the planned walkout, emphasizing that uninterrupted banking services are a top priority for citizens.
