Samsung Highlights Foldable Momentum Before Apple’s Expected September Launch

Roh Tae‑moon, Samsung Electronics’ mobile division leader, told journalists that the company’s seven‑year journey in foldable technology has created a competitive edge that cannot be quickly duplicated. With Apple rumored to reveal a book‑style foldable iPhone in September, Samsung’s recent rollout of three Gemini‑AI powered Galaxy Z models marks the most significant expansion of its foldable line since 2019. Roh emphasized that both the technology and the consumer market have reached a level of maturity, as more manufacturers enter the foldable arena, confirming its status as a mainstream product. He also stressed Samsung’s commitment to the Korean market by offering the new Galaxy Z Fold 8 at 2.28 million won (approximately $1,540), a price point lower than many overseas equivalents. The Z Fold 8 Ultra will be priced at 2.58 million won, and the Z Flip 8 at 1.68 million won. The devices will begin phased shipping worldwide on August 7, with Korean pre‑orders open until August 3.
