Rs 77.69 Crore Relief for Bihar Gramin Bank Staff After Pacts

The Central Government has confirmed that two major industrial disputes involving Bihar Gramin Bank and its employee organisations have been settled amicably. Together, the agreements are expected to bring financial gains worth about Rs 77.69 crore to over 10,900 bank employees.

The Ministry of Labour and Employment stated that the disputes were resolved through conciliation and mediation handled by the Assistant Labour Commissioner (Central), Patna, under the Chief Labour Commissioner (Central) office of the Government of India. The ministry said the outcome strengthens employee welfare, supports fair labour practices and fosters better industrial relations.

The first agreement has been signed between the Bihar Gramin Bank Officers Association, Patna, and the bank management. It is likely to benefit nearly 8,400 employees, with an estimated financial impact of around Rs 67.17 crore. Key demands addressed include performance linked incentive (PLI), acting allowance, salary increments, higher travel allowance, promotions and compassionate appointments.

The second agreement was reached between the Bihar Gramin Bank Workers Organisation (BGBWO) and the bank management. Around 2,500 employees are expected to benefit, with financial benefits of nearly Rs 10.52 crore, of which about Rs 9.02 crore is an annual recurring benefit. The deal resolves issues such as the effective implementation of the 12th Bipartite Wage Settlement, a rise in house rent allowance, an increase in transport allowance for differently abled employees, overtime payments, promotion transparency and the formation of a negotiating council.

According to the government, both settlements were made possible by constructive dialogue and cooperation between employee organisations and bank management. The ministry expects the agreements to deliver direct economic benefits to employees and promote lasting industrial peace and a better working environment at the bank.
