AI and Aerospace Set to Drive Next Stage of Quebec‑India Economic Deal

Jakarta – Quebec’s International Relations Minister Christopher Skeet emphasized that artificial intelligence and aerospace will form the backbone of the next phase of economic cooperation with India. Speaking after a high‑level delegation visit, Skeet explained that both provinces share complementary strengths: Quebec’s expertise in AI research and India’s extensive talent pool.

“The future is being defined by AI, and Quebec is well‑positioned to lead,” Skeet declared. He noted that joint AI projects could span from smart manufacturing to data‑driven agriculture, areas where India is actively seeking partnerships.

Aerospace was also identified as a priority sector, with potential collaborations ranging from satellite technology to advanced materials. The minister highlighted ongoing university partnerships that could serve as incubators for joint research and student exchanges.

He called for a coordinated approach to secure supply chains, stating that “countries must work together to develop trustworthy networks that can withstand geopolitical shifts.” In this context, Quebec and India could become model partners for resilient trade.

Skeet concluded that the focus should shift from setting long‑term targets to achieving concrete business outcomes within the next ten years, thereby turning the envisioned partnership into a measurable success.

“By bringing Indian business to Quebec and vice‑versa, and by fostering connections today, we can claim a major achievement a decade from now,” he said, underscoring the urgency of immediate action.
