Power‑and‑biomass‑to‑liquids (PBTL) technology can convert agricultural waste and forestry residues into jet‑grade fuel. The study projects export opportunities worth $9 billion by 2030 and $30 billion by 2040 if India scales up production.

Because PBTL uses non‑food biomass, it sidesteps the food‑vs‑fuel debate that has hampered other biofuel projects. When combined with carbon capture and storage (CCS), the process can even achieve net‑negative emissions over its lifecycle.
