PNGRB clears major LPG projects, network to grow 23%
The latest PNGRB clearance follows the earlier sanction of the 2,757‑km Kanpur‑Gorakhpur pipeline, currently India’s longest LPG conduit. Together, these projects will bring the nation’s sanctioned pipeline mileage close to 9,500 km.
Industry experts say the expanded network will streamline LPG distribution from coastal import points to inland markets, delivering fuel faster and at lower cost.
GAIL (India) Ltd will oversee the engineering, procurement, construction and subsequent operation of each line, ensuring compliance with international safety standards.
Beyond economic benefits, the pipelines promise a notable reduction in road‑based accidents involving LPG tankers, improving overall public safety on highways.
