In a significant step for technological diplomacy, India will host the India AI Impact Summit from February 16-20 at the Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi. Billed as the inaugural AI summit for the Global South, it will attract international delegates and be kickstarted by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
AI is revolutionizing India’s developmental trajectory by fortifying governance structures and streamlining public services. Its capacity for inclusive, scalable progress resonates deeply with the 2047 Viksit Bharat goal. With over 20 official languages and immense cultural variety, India is ideally placed to lead in creating versatile AI solutions that serve everyone.
The gathering will feature top-tier discussions among world leaders, regulators, business heads, and specialists on harnessing AI for ethical governance, cutting-edge innovation, and long-term sustainability. Drawing from prestigious global AI gatherings, the event will translate dialogues into action via India’s flagship IndiaAI Mission and Digital India program, while bolstering multilateral ties and human-focused AI policies.
The government’s proactive stance includes the IndiaAI Mission for compute power, homegrown AI models, and widespread training in ethical practices, cultivating a thriving AI landscape. Looking ahead to 2026, this summit promises enhanced international partnerships, ethical standards, and rapid AI deployment in key industries, cementing India’s role as an AI powerhouse.
Preparatory regional conferences in eight states—Meghalaya, Gujarat, Odisha, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Kerala, and Telangana—have already bridged national AI strategies with local demands from October 2025 to January 2026.
