India’s AI job landscape is heavily skewed toward its major metros, with Bengaluru and Delhi-NCR commanding over 50% of opportunities, according to a fresh CBRE report unveiled on Wednesday.
Bengaluru tops the list at 25.4%, trailed by Delhi-NCR’s 24.8% and Mumbai’s 19.2%. These hubs together control about 70% of the market, based on an audit of more than 64,500 live listings on Naukri.com through December 2025.
Engineering roles in software and QA lead the charge, followed by data science/analytics and customer-facing operations. This trend illustrates AI’s infiltration into core business operations, not just backend tech.
The report poignantly notes: “India is not only writing AI code but also dictating its global deployment and management.”
Commercial impacts are evident in surging office demand. Bengaluru spearheaded 2025 leasing at 26% share amid 82.6 million sq ft of total activity, dominating GCC leases with over a third of the national volume.
In Delhi-NCR, AI roles proliferate across diverse fields like consulting, fintech, healthcare, and government, signaling widespread integration.
CBRE’s Anshuman Magazine declared, “The AI professional shortage isn’t just a hiring trend—it’s proof that multinationals see India as an innovation nexus, not just back-office support. This evolution will transform India’s economy and its place in the worldwide digital ecosystem.”
As AI adoption accelerates, these cities are cementing India’s position as a global leader in intelligent technologies.
