New ‘Smriti’ System Will Auto‑Generate Multilingual Minutes for Government Meetings
A cornerstone of the multilingual AI framework is the “Smriti” system – formally known as the System for Meeting Recording, Information and Transcription Interface. Co‑developed by the Bhashini team, Smriti will capture audio from official meetings, produce written minutes, and instantly translate them into several Indian languages. This automation is expected to boost administrative efficiency and ensure that policy outcomes are communicated in a language that stakeholders understand.
In addition to meeting transcription, the collaboration will introduce reference applications and voice assistants tailored to specific departments. These tools will incorporate sector‑specific terminology, strengthening the accuracy of AI translations across health, education, agriculture and other critical areas.
