New financial grants aim to boost farm infrastructure in two states

The central government has earmarked more than six hundred crore rupees for agricultural development in Rajasthan and Telangana. Under the Prime Minister’s Rural Development Scheme and the Krishonnati initiative, Rajasthan is allocated 340.59 crore and Telangana 265.12 crore. The approval was conveyed by the Union Agriculture Minister in a virtual meeting with the respective state agriculture ministers, the agriculture secretary and senior officials from the centre. The session reviewed the states’ project approval committee reports, including annual work plans, utilization of the initial tranche and expenditure progress. Telangana’s new model for farmer identity verification and fertilizer distribution received special mention for its transparency. The minister also flagged delays in oilseed and pulse project spending in Telangana, urging regular monitoring. For Rajasthan, he stressed the importance of the farmer credit card scheme to facilitate hassle‑free loan disbursement. The funds are expected to accelerate infrastructure upgrades, increase productivity, and enhance farmer welfare in both states.
