NBFC funding boost pushes Indian securitisation to 1.47 lakh crore
The latest report from a leading credit rating agency points to the pivotal role of non‑bank financial companies in the rapid expansion of India’s securitisation market during H1 FY 2026‑27. By turning to asset‑backed securities for financing, NBFCs added substantial volume, helping the market achieve a record ₹1.47 lakh crore.
Alongside gold‑loan assets, the securitisation of vehicle loans, MSME financing, mortgage, and small‑business loans each held a share of 12‑15 percent of the overall pool. The transaction structure remained balanced, with pass‑through certificates (PTCs) and direct assignments (DAs) splitting the market almost evenly.
Industry observers expect the momentum to continue, driven by ongoing demand for gold and vehicle loans and the persistent funding needs of NBFCs.
