Musk Proposes One-Dollar Tipping via X Money Like Button

Elon Musk has unveiled a proposed X Money feature that would allow users to tip others one dollar through the like button. The idea is to let people send small payments to post authors with minimal effort.

Musk made the announcement on social media on Sunday. He described a system in which any user could send a small amount of money to another user on the X platform without exiting the application.

The proposed feature would simplify the process of tipping content creators and supporting posts that users appreciate. Since the transaction would happen inside X, users would not need to use external payment tools.

Musk posted on X that the company is "adding the ability to send someone 1 dollar via X Money by long pressing the like button." Under the plan, a user holding down the like button would be able to pay the post's author one dollar, with the payment handled by X Money.

Although the concept has drawn significant curiosity from users and creators, the company has not disclosed a detailed launch schedule or the requirements needed to use the feature.

The initiative fits into Musk's larger vision of making X an "everything app" that brings together social networking, messaging, payments, and other digital services in a single ecosystem.

X Money was recently introduced in the United States. It allows users to transfer money to one another and includes an X Visa debit card that works for both in-person and online transactions. The card can also be connected to Apple Pay, enabling contactless payments where the feature is available.

The company has additionally promoted services aimed at easing international transactions. The specific advantages and terms, however, may depend on individual eligibility and applicable regulations.

At present, X Money is concentrating on the American market. The company has not said when the service or the like-button payment option will be offered in India or elsewhere. India's position as one of the world's leading digital payment markets makes it an important region to watch.
