Mumbai September 2026 property market sees highest registrations in 14 years
September 2026 marked a milestone for Mumbai's real‑estate sector, as 12,622 properties were officially registered, a 5% increase over September 2025 and the highest monthly total since 2012. The data, released by Night Frank India, also shows that registrations edged past August's 12,580 units.
The Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations (Sept 14‑25) played a pivotal role, delivering 5,379 registrations—22% higher than the same period last year and the peak festive number in four years. Stamp duty collected during those days rose to 640 crore rupees, forming more than half of the month's overall 1,227‑crore intake.
While the registration count surged, total stamp duty revenue slipped 5% YoY, indicating a possible shift toward more modest‑priced transactions.
Industry veteran Shishir Baijal emphasized that buyer enthusiasm remains strong, yet purchasers are now favoring projects that offer superior transport links, solid social amenities, and prime locations.
Compared with September 2025's 12,070 registrations, the current figure sits well above the ten‑year average, reinforcing the notion that Mumbai's residential market continues to attract significant interest.
