Metro cities to power 60% of quick‑commerce growth in India

Metro regions are emerging as the engine of quick‑commerce expansion in India. The report estimates that by FY31, roughly 60 percent of all incremental growth will originate from these urban hubs. Their contribution to retail spending is projected to rise from about 6 percent today to between 20 and 23 percent in the next five years.

The driver behind this surge is two‑fold: a rapid increase in digital‑wallet usage and a sharp jump in the number of active users. Metro quick‑commerce shoppers are expected to grow from 28 million to almost 50 million, effectively doubling the urban consumer base.

This urban concentration presents a strategic opportunity for e‑commerce platforms and brands to prioritize metro‑focused logistics, inventory placement, and localized marketing tactics. By aligning supply chains with the high‑density demand patterns of cities like Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, and Hyderabad, companies can unlock higher order volumes and faster delivery cycles.
