Meta has released a new generative AI video editing feature designed to transform short videos using pre-set styles, effects, and character outfits. This tool is accessible via the Meta AI app, Meta.AI website, and the Edits app. This launch is part of Meta’s initiative to increase access to AI-generated video content. Currently available for free in its beta version to users in the US and over a dozen other countries, the video editor allows users to apply a variety of effects to 10-second clips, including graphic novel styles, comic-book filters, and dreamy lighting. Future updates will include text-based editing, enabling users to input custom text prompts to guide the AI’s edits. This tool is built upon Meta’s prior AI research, such as Movie Gen and Make-A-Scene, and aims to encourage broader experimentation with AI-driven content creation. Users can directly share their edited videos on Instagram, Facebook, or the Meta AI Discover feed. The tool is currently available in select countries and requires users to be signed into the Meta AI platform.
