Meta acknowledges mistake in blocking Prime Minister's Facebook update, apologises to Ashwini Vaishnav

Meta Platforms formally recognised that the temporary suspension of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Facebook post was an error. Joel Kaplan, Meta’s senior global affairs officer, said the company directly apologized to Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnav for the incident.

Kaplan was accompanied by a senior Meta delegation that met Vaishnav in New Delhi, where the firm accepted responsibility for the operational glitch that led to the post’s removal.

Before the ministerial meeting, the delegation also briefed S. Krishnan, the Information Technology Secretary, on the technical deficiencies that contributed to the issue.

The apology comes amid ongoing questions in India about Meta’s content‑moderation framework. Earlier in the week, CEO Mark Zuckerberg expressed regret over the spread of objectionable and misleading content on the platform and affirmed the company’s willingness to address governmental concerns.
