India’s ‘Make in India’ Drive Gains Momentum with Audi’s Q3 Assembly

Audi India has taken a significant step forward in the country's "Make in India" initiative by commencing local assembly of its newest compact luxury SUV, the Audi Q3, at the SAWIPL facility in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Maharashtra.

The vehicle is scheduled for a market launch on October 16, 2026. It will be equipped with a 2.0‑litre petrol powerplant and Audi’s quattro four‑wheel‑drive, a combination that promises both refined performance and all‑weather capability.

The brand emphasizes that the new Q3 blends the space efficiency expected of a compact SUV with the high‑end finishes and technology features typical of larger luxury models. New driver‑assist functions, upgraded infotainment, and premium interior materials are among the enhancements highlighted for the Indian version.

Prospective owners can secure their bookings through Audi India’s official online portal, the MyAudi Connect mobile platform, or by visiting any Audi dealership throughout the nation.

Piyush Aroda, Managing Director and CEO of the Volkswagen Group in India, remarked that the launch of the Q3 assembly line underscores the plant’s manufacturing strength and reaffirms the group’s strategic focus on expanding its premium vehicle portfolio in the Indian market.

Audi India recorded sales of approximately 4,510 vehicles in the fiscal year 2025, indicating resilience in a market that has faced shifting consumer preferences. The company attributes stable demand to the introduction of GST 2.0, which has bolstered buyer confidence for luxury purchases.

Effective from April 1, 2026, Audi implemented a price hike of up to 2 percent on all its models, citing increased raw‑material costs and exchange‑rate volatility as the main reasons.
