Konkani language highlighted as key focus in AI‑enabled governance workshop

During the Panaji workshop, the Konkani language received particular attention as a test case for multilingual AI deployment. Demonstrations showed how AI‑based translation, speech recognition, transliteration and text‑to‑speech modules can be embedded within government portals, allowing users to access information in Konkani without technical barriers.

Bhashini’s Chief Executive Officer Amitabh Nag explained that a voice‑first ecosystem powered by multilingual AI can transform citizen interactions with public services ranging from health and education to tourism and banking. He called for increased collaboration among governmental bodies, research institutions and start‑ups to expand the Konkani language ecosystem and fast‑track digital transformation in the state.
