India’s BRICS Chairmanship Highlights ICT Collaboration and Innovation

India’s current term as BRICS chair is being used to push forward a bold ICT cooperation agenda. The 12th telecom ministers’ meeting will serve as a catalyst for joint projects in digital public infrastructure, next‑generation networking and cybersecurity.

The theme, “Innovation, Cooperation and Transformation for a Resilient Future”, reflects the Indian government’s commitment to inclusive, secure and sustainable digital development across the bloc.

Key discussion points will include leveraging emerging technologies such as 5G, artificial intelligence and satellite communications to build a more connected and resilient digital landscape.

The summit will also address the creation of BRICS ICT research hubs and the scaling up of capacity‑building programmes that aim to equip member states with the skills required for a digital‑first economy.

By showcasing initiatives at the Digital BRICS Forum Expo, India seeks to demonstrate how collaboration can accelerate digital progress not only for BRICS members but for the wider Global South.
