India‑Russia Deal Targets $100 billion Bilateral Trade at BRICS Summit

At the BRICS summit, India and Russia reached a landmark agreement to lift their bilateral trade volume to $100 billion, a figure that would mark a significant increase from previous levels.

The commitment was announced alongside broader summit themes of expanding trade, investment and strategic collaboration among the six member states.

Industry leaders, including defence analyst Ranjit Rai, noted that the declaration underscores the group’s intent to shape a multipolar world order where security, climate and economic growth are addressed jointly rather than by isolated nations.

Former SAARC Vice‑President Raj Shekhar Joshi described the agreement as proof of BRICS’ growing influence, representing more than half of the world’s population and roughly 40 percent of global GDP.
