With an existing network of 23 refineries processing close to 270 million metric tonnes each year, India has emerged as one of the world’s most significant refining hubs. The latest capacity boost to 300 MMTPA will further cement this status, allowing the country to meet rising domestic demand and expand export opportunities.
Officials emphasized that the expansion is not merely a commercial asset but also a strategic responsibility. By increasing refined product output, India aims to serve as a transparent and steady energy partner for its allies, reinforcing the vision articulated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the international stage.
