India’s First Private Orbital Rocket to Include National Tribute Payload
In a landmark announcement, SkyrRoute Aerospace revealed that its Vikram‑1 Test Flight‑1 will launch on July 18 from Hyderabad’s SDSC‑SHAR facility, carrying a payload that blends technology and patriotism.
Among the cargo is a postcard personally written by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, featuring the phrase “Vande Mataram”. The company says the card, together with handwritten notes from its stakeholders, represents a collective endorsement of India’s private space ecosystem.
The rocket will also transport demonstration payloads from CosmoServ, D‑Cubed and SkyrRoute, plus a bespoke artwork by Cosmos Diamonds named “Cosmic Bloom” and a miniature art piece. The launch aims to validate the performance of India’s first privately built orbital launch vehicle and to bolster the country’s commercial space aspirations.
All required aerospace and maritime authorisations have been obtained, and flight and impact corridors have been cleared by the relevant authorities.
