India’s Inclusive Science Drive Ahead of BRICS 2026 Chairmanship

Dr. Jitendra Singh highlighted India’s expanding role on the global science stage as the country prepares to chair the BRICS group in 2026. The chosen theme – “Building for Resilience, Innovation, Collaboration and Sustainability” – reflects a shared belief that science and technology should serve humanity by enhancing adaptability, inclusive growth and sustainable development.

India’s initiatives such as the National Quantum Mission and the National Supercomputing Mission demonstrate a commitment to cutting‑edge research that is open and collaborative. The BioE3 policy and National Geospatial Policy further underline a focus on solutions that improve everyday lives while driving economic transformation.

The minister praised the contributions of the STI Steering Committee, senior officials and various working groups, noting that their efforts have turned BRICS STI collaboration into a robust platform for research partnerships, innovation alliances, youth scientist exchanges and shared infrastructure.

As the 2026 chair, India aims to align BRICS STI priorities with emerging scientific fields and the developmental aspirations of member societies.
