India Seeks Greater Market Access with EAEU Amid Export Expansion
The agreement talks come at a time when India is recording record export performance. Government data projects that in the fiscal year 2025‑26, India's total merchandise and services exports will reach $863.1 billion, of which $441.8 billion will be goods.
Goyal highlighted that a fast‑tracked India‑EAEU FTA would open new avenues for Indian exporters in the Eurasian market, especially in labour‑intensive sectors such as fisheries, textiles and footwear. He also noted the potential uplift for chemical and pharmaceutical product exports once tariff barriers are lowered.
The minister assured that negotiations will continue with due regard for sensitive industries on both sides, aiming for a balanced agreement that safeguards domestic interests while unlocking new growth opportunities.
