Key Policies and Infrastructure Driving Gujarat’s Export Surge

Gujarat’s ascent to the top of India’s export hierarchy in FY 2025‑26 is anchored in a suite of coordinated measures. The state government introduced an industrial policy that prioritises export‑centric growth, offering fiscal incentives, land concessions and fast‑track clearances for manufacturers aiming at overseas markets.

The logistical advantage is equally decisive. Gujarat hosts some of India’s most efficient seaports, backed by deep‑draft facilities that accommodate large cargo vessels. Complementary infrastructure—including highways, rail corridors and dedicated freight corridors—reduces transit time and costs for exporters.

Special Economic Zones scattered across the state create concentrated hubs where businesses benefit from a single‑window clearance system, tax exemptions and liberalised foreign exchange norms. These SEZs have become magnets for export‑focused enterprises in sectors ranging from petrochemicals to precision engineering.

Industry experts point out that the low logistics expenditure and reliable transport network have directly translated into higher competitiveness for Gujarat‑based firms on the global stage.

The state’s forward‑looking agenda now embraces high‑technology domains. Investments in semiconductor fabs and advanced manufacturing plants are reshaping Gujarat’s export mix, positioning it for sustained growth beyond traditional commodities.

According to DGFT joint director Rahil Singh, Gujarat’s integrated approach—combining policy, infrastructure and global market linkage—makes it a linchpin in achieving the "Make in India" and "Developed India 2047" goals.
