Govt Reports Strong Progress Under VB-G RAM G Employment Mission

The government has reported strong progress under the Viksit Bharat-Rozgar and Ajeevika Mission (Gramin), widely referred to as VB-G RAM G. The update covers multiple implementation indicators for the 2026-27 period.

Active workers under the mission totalled 10.88 crore, while 2.83 lakh assets were created. More than 31.69 crore person-days were generated, and women made up 61.65 per cent of participants.

Roughly 2.23 crore rural households benefited, with over 2.81 crore workers receiving employment on demand. Around 97.17 lakh workers are currently engaged in ongoing work.

The statement highlighted the role of gram panchayats in the process. Through VGPP, panchayats identify local needs, map existing assets and prioritise development works. The mission, it said, integrates employment with community-driven planning.

Technology, coordination and digital platforms are being used to strengthen implementation, transparency and accountability. The model ties employment to sustainable asset creation, contributing to resilient livelihoods and integrated rural development.

As per the statement, 73.24 lakh sanctioned projects are available to address future employment demand. Approximately 20.16 lakh active worksites are functioning across the country.

Some 2.31 lakh gram panchayats are carrying out works. In 2026-27, a total of 3.76 crore direct benefit transfer transactions were logged.

Wage rates vary from Rs 300 to Rs 450 per day. So far, 15.17 crore Rural Employment Guarantee cards have been issued.

The transition from MGNREGA to VB-G RAM G has been smooth and uninterrupted, the statement added. The digital systems supporting implementation were functional from the outset of the new framework.

The VB-G RAM G Act, 2025 offers a legal guarantee of 125 days of wage employment each financial year. This guarantee applies to every rural household whose adult members voluntarily undertake unskilled physical labour. The initiative promotes empowerment, development, convergence and saturation for a prosperous and resilient rural India.
