Govt assessment finds no critical data lost in Tata Electronics

In a statement issued on July 13, the central government said that investigations into the Tata Electronics cyber‑security breach have not uncovered any sign of loss of critical information. The IT secretary emphasized that the firm is cooperating fully with the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology to mitigate any residual risks. According to the early assessment, all essential databases remain intact and the company’s supply‑chain data are presumed secure. Analysts have expressed concern that the incident might affect Apple’s supply chain, given Tata Electronics’ role as a principal iPhone assembler in the country. Nonetheless, officials reiterated that a detailed probe is ongoing, with CERT‑IN examining the incident’s technical details. The secretary called on organisations to view cyber security as a strategic risk, not just a technical issue, and to stay vigilant against emerging threats powered by artificial intelligence. Through coordinated efforts with industry and leveraging CERT‑IN guidelines, the ministry aims to bolster cyber defence across the sector.
