Government’s e‑Samudra set to transform maritime administration

The launch of e‑Samudra marks a pivotal shift from paper‑based, office‑centric procedures to a digital‑first, face‑less governance model for India’s maritime administration.

Senior officials highlighted that the platform will accelerate service delivery, improve accountability and grant stakeholders quicker access to critical information. During recent geopolitical tensions, Indian maritime authorities monitored more than 16,000 calls and handled upwards of 40,000 communications, showcasing the importance of real‑time data integration.

Collaboration with the Ministry of External Affairs, Indian embassies, the Navy and other agencies enabled the safe repatriation of over 4,000 Indian seafarers stranded in conflict zones. e‑Samudra will embed these operational capabilities within a single digital environment, reinforcing India’s broader visions for maritime transformation by 2030 and 2047.
