Government’s Employment Fair Reaches 12.75 Lakh Hires

According to a fact sheet released on Saturday, the National Employment Fair has now generated around 12.75 lakh appointment letters across 20 editions. Initiated in October 2022 with a goal of creating 10 lakh government posts, the scheme has transitioned into a mission‑driven, nationwide hiring operation.

Placements span ministries such as Railways, Home Affairs, Postal Services, Health and Family Welfare, Financial Services, Labour and Employment, among other central departments. The selection process is executed by established recruiting agencies including UPSC, SSC and the Railway Recruitment Board, ensuring credibility and speed.

The fair is not limited to recruitment; it also bundles skill development programs, career counseling, and entrepreneurship facilitation, thereby connecting young talent with a variety of employment avenues. Direct interaction between employers and candidates has been pivotal in synchronising skill sets with job market needs, nurturing a skilled public‑sector workforce.

The inaugural fair handed out more than 75,000 appointment letters at 50 locations. Every subsequent edition has broadened the initiative’s footprint, acting as a catalyst for faster public‑sector hiring and offering youth a structured entry into government service.

Organised with the support of the National Skill Development Corporation, Sector Skill Councils and Prime Minister’s Skill Centres, the event also welcomes private‑sector companies to expand job possibilities for qualified candidates.

During the 20th edition, Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed participants through a video conference and facilitated the distribution of over 51,000 appointment letters to selected youth.
