Government Allocates ₹1.27 Lakh Cr for Semicon 2.0, Greenlights 12 Fab Units

The centre cleared a budget of 1.27 lakh crore rupees for Semicon 2.0 this month, with the goal of creating a self‑sufficient design and manufacturing ecosystem. To date, twelve semiconductor fabrication units have received clearance, together accounting for more than ₹1.64 lakh crore in approved investments. The funding is expected to spur domestic production for smartphones, wearables, consumer electronics, automotive, data‑center hardware and other high‑growth segments.
