Google ordered to stop anti‑competitive practices in EU, faces additional fines

EU Executive Vice‑President Teresa Ribera announced that Google failed to meet the obligations of the Digital Markets Act, prompting the €89 million fine. The Commission gave Google 60 days to rectify the breaches, warning that non‑compliance could trigger a secondary penalty equal to 5 percent of its worldwide turnover. The corrective measures include allowing app developers on Google Play to freely disclose alternative offers, promote them and engage directly with users outside the Play ecosystem.
