Finance Ministers Gather to Align Policies for India's Developed Future

Delhi will become the venue for a two‑day summit of finance ministers and finance secretaries from all states and union territories, beginning on Friday. The event, organized by the Ministry of Finance, carries the theme “Financing the Journey to a Developed India”.

The Union Finance Minister will head the conference, which will also be attended by several chief ministers, state finance ministers and senior officials. The statement issued on Thursday emphasizes that the summit seeks to reinforce policy complementarity between the centre and the states.

The Secretary of the Department of Economic Affairs will open the proceedings, followed by a keynote speech from a former chairman of the 15th Finance Commission and a leading economist. A former senior official of the Maharashtra government will present the state perspective on financing a developed nation.

Three core sessions have been planned: a macro‑economic overview, financing for agricultural transformation, and financing for the energy transition. Participants were provided with background material covering economic milestones, private financing avenues, the impact of GST‑2.0 and other relevant subjects.

Additional discussions will focus on agricultural market financing, resilience in Indian agriculture, renewable energy and transmission asset funding, carbon capture‑utilisation‑storage, and the role of new technologies in driving development outcomes.
