Export restrictions on wheat derivatives removed as stock improves

Earlier this year, the government had permitted the export of 2.5 million metric tonnes of wheat and an additional 0.5 million tonnes of wheat‑derived products, citing better availability of stocks. With the latest decision, all wheat‑based products are now eligible for unrestricted export, removing the need for special licences. The shift comes as India’s wheat production is projected to reach 12.07 million tonnes in the 2025‑26 season, up from 11.79 million tonnes the previous year.
