DFS Secretary Calls for End‑to‑End Digital Loan Processing
During a review session with senior officials of public‑sector banks (PSBs) and chief executives of leading private‑sector banks in New Delhi, DFS secretary Sanjay Lohiya highlighted that while India’s financial inclusion agenda is advancing, the banking sector must accelerate its digital transformation.
The meeting examined tools such as UPI‑based credit lines and the Credit Card for Micro‑Enterprises (CCME), designed to simplify credit delivery for small businesses. Lohiya praised the achievements of schemes like PMJDY, PMJJBY, PMSBY, Atal Pension Yojana and the Pradhan Mantri Mudra Yojana but encouraged private banks to increase their involvement.
He instructed banks to boost public awareness of claim eligibility under government life and accident insurance products, ensuring beneficiaries receive payouts without delay. Additionally, he emphasized meticulous handling of complaints and faster resolution of insurance claims.
All new beneficiaries of PMJJBY and PMSBY are to be registered through the Jan Suraksha portal, which will be integrated with banks and insurers, improving data integrity and operational efficiency. The agenda also reviewed the rollout of bank branches and Business Correspondents in underserved villages, aligning with the national aim of comprehensive digital financial inclusion.
