Fresh data released by EEPC India shows engineering goods exports from the country rose 8.78 percent in April to reach $10.35 billion. The performance stands out against a backdrop of supply-chain disruptions caused by conflict in West Asia. Robust demand for aluminium products, copper items, and electrical machinery underpinned the growth. Two- and three-wheeler shipments recorded a 36 percent rise, while auto-component exports increased 7.2 percent. Twenty-eight out of 34 product panels posted gains. Chairman Pankaj Chadha pointed out that exports to Oman benefited from the recently signed bilateral trade pact, offsetting some weakness in shipments to the wider WANA region. The United States, United Kingdom, and Germany remained the top destinations, whereas the UAE, Singapore, and Saudi Arabia saw declines. Regionally, North America grew 7.1 percent and the EU expanded 13 percent. Despite these positives, the sector’s share in total merchandise exports dipped slightly to 23.8 percent from 24.9 percent a year earlier, underlining the need for sustained policy support and better market access strategies.
