Domestic Chip Plants Gain Momentum as Tata‑Powerchip Project Nears First Output

Six Indian states have so far cleared 12 semiconductor projects. Companies such as Micron, Kenes Semiconductor and CG Semiconductor have begun commercial output this year, primarily focusing on assembly, testing and packaging. In Gujarat’s Dholera zone, Tata Electronics and Taiwan’s Powerchip Semiconductor Manufacturing Corp. are fast‑tracking a joint fab that is expected to ship its first wafer batch by December, bolstering domestic supply and reducing import reliance.
