DGCA Opens Probe After Indigo Jet’s Tail Scrapes Runway on Re‑Landing at Kempegowda Airport
The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) announced the launch of an inquiry following a runway incident involving Indigo’s flight 6E6542 on September 27. The aircraft, descending into Bangalore amid windy conditions, aborted its initial landing and, on the subsequent attempt, the aft section of the plane touched the runway. No injuries were reported; passengers and crew exited the aircraft safely after it came to a complete stop. Authorities will examine weather data, pilot reports, and aircraft maintenance records to determine why the tail made contact. The airline confirmed that the aircraft will undergo a detailed inspection before flying again and that a standby aircraft has been deployed to meet the scheduled Bangalore‑Coimbatore service.
