Creator Roles in India See Nearly Tenfold Hiring Spike

A new report shows India's marketing landscape is being reshaped by the rapid rise of creator positions inside companies. Job site Indeed tracked a 919 percent increase in creator-related listings from 2020 through early 2026. The data reveals that organizations are moving beyond temporary influencer partnerships and building full-time content departments instead. In 2020, creator roles appeared in roughly one out of every 1,000 marketing postings. Today they appear in almost one out of every 100. This tenfold jump reflects a broader strategic change. Brands now prioritize ongoing content production, audience management, and performance tracking over single campaign activations. The report breaks down recent hiring patterns. Between March 2025 and February 2026, 40 percent of creator jobs were labeled as influencer positions. Another 20 percent were posted as marketing executive roles, and 17 percent as marketing internships. The remaining positions cover video production, community management, and content operations. These roles focus on execution and engagement rather than pure influence. The professionalization of creator work is creating clearer career trajectories for young Indians skilled in storytelling and digital production. Experts say the change brings higher expectations around results. Brands want proof that content drives engagement, conversions, and brand consistency. At the same time, the talent shortage remains acute. Companies struggle to find enough qualified professionals, prompting them to develop internal training programs and long-term hiring pipelines. The creator economy is no longer a side hustle economy. It is becoming a structured employment sector with measurable KPIs and organizational integration.
