In a groundbreaking ceremony on World Quantum Day, April 14, Andhra Pradesh CM N. Chandrababu Naidu will launch India’s inaugural homegrown quantum computer testing center at SRM University in Amaravati. He will also remotely inaugurate the Quantum Facility Center at Gannavaram’s Medha Towers near Vijayawada.

Andhra Pradesh claims the distinction of being the first state to roll out such a center, with ambitions to transform Amaravati into an international Quantum Valley for quantum computing excellence.

The program features a live quantum system startup, where the cryogenic cooling of the Amaravati 1 Q processor at Medha Towers will be triggered virtually. The Amaravati 1 S setup, designed for open access, will allow real-time observation by participants.

With the Amaravati Quantum Reference Facility (AQRF) now operational, India gains independent quantum capabilities. As the nucleus of the National Quantum Hardware Network, Amaravati enables domestic design, validation, certification, and production of quantum systems for worldwide deployment.

Key AQRF innovations in cryogenics, advanced electronics, and quantum fabrication will yield breakthroughs in defense applications, medical advancements, and chip production.

The National Quantum Mission will see an IBM 133-qubit machine installed here, bolstered by collaborations with more than 80 industry and academia partners, ranking Amaravati among the global elite in quantum hubs.

This indigenous hardware addition strengthens Quantum Valley’s ecosystem, encompassing cloud services, training programs, and R&D facilities.

Speaking on the occasion, CM Secretary P.S. Pradyumna called it a fulfillment of public aspirations, driven by Naidu’s proactive leadership in quantum tech.

The CM’s strategy focused on a self-reliant hardware ecosystem in Amaravati, with SRM University ensuring student access to the facility.

Reflecting on tech evolution, Pradyumna said decades of classical computing benefits pave the way for AI and quantum eras. Naidu’s call for skill upgrades has mobilized millions, notably 250,000 students at IIT Chennai.
