BRICS Summit 2026 Serves as Platform for Deepening India-Iran Financial Collaboration

At the 2026 BRICS summit held in New Delhi, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and Iran’s Finance Minister Dr. Seyed Ali Madani Jaddeh convened to discuss expanding economic cooperation. The ministers highlighted the role of BRICS in providing a forum for developing economies to coordinate financial policies and joint initiatives.

Key topics included boosting bilateral trade, facilitating investment, and developing mechanisms for financing projects in local currencies. Both sides expressed a commitment to explore new sectors of cooperation and to create a stable framework for sustained economic exchange.

Sitharaman’s agenda also featured meetings with AIIB President Ju Xiaoyi, focusing on infrastructure funding, and with Russian Deputy Prime Minister Denis Manturov, where the two countries agreed to advance a bilateral investment treaty.

Following these discussions, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced the adoption of the Delhi Declaration 2026, calling for decisive action to turn BRICS resolutions into real‑world progress.
