Boosting R&D and Tech Partnerships: A Roadmap for Indian MSMEs

Rajnath Singh stressed that strengthening technical know‑how is essential for MSMEs aiming to compete globally. He encouraged firms to channel a share of profits into R&D and to forge strategic alliances with premier academic institutions such as IITs, research bodies, DRDO labs, start‑ups and large industry players. The minister identified high‑growth sectors – drones, artificial intelligence, robotics, cyber security, advanced electronics, sensors, autonomous systems, advanced materials, space and quantum technologies – as fertile ground for MSMEs to innovate and add value. He reiterated that quality and reliability are non‑negotiable, especially in defence components where performance directly impacts operational effectiveness.
