Anthropic's Project Glasswing could strengthen India's cyber defence, senior official says

A senior MeitY official told reporters on Friday that access to Anthropic’s Project Glasswing would give India a decisive edge in protecting its critical digital infrastructure. The AI model, introduced by the US‑based firm in April 2026, is built to evaluate and harden the most sensitive software systems worldwide.

"If we secure access to Glasswing, we can run exhaustive AI‑powered tests on our digital platforms," the official explained at the CII Cyber Security Summit. "This will allow us to spot vulnerabilities that conventional testing may miss and to patch them before threat actors exploit them."

India is already employing existing AI tools for cyber‑security assessments, which currently cover about 60‑70 % of its key systems. The addition of Glasswing’s advanced capabilities is expected to boost the thoroughness of these evaluations, making the nation’s cyber‑defence more resilient against evolving threats.

Participating companies in the Glasswing project include major players such as AWS, Apple, Cisco, Google, Microsoft, Nvidia and several leading financial and network service providers. The collaboration reflects a global effort to secure digital ecosystems as AI becomes a double‑edged sword for both defenders and attackers.
