A freshly released consumer insight report highlights that AI is no longer a peripheral add‑on but a central purchase driver for smartphones. According to the data, 68% of buyers give AI features top priority, while 82% say that transparent handling of personal data and trust are pivotal.
On‑device AI processing enjoys strong support, with 61% believing it improves speed and safeguards privacy. Performance gains attract 78% of respondents, AI‑powered camera quality appeals to 70%, and 59% consider the overall strength of AI tools as the most valuable specification.
The study further indicates that AI has begun to outrank traditional criteria such as design, cost and battery life. When presented with two phones at the same price point, 60% prefer a balanced combination of powerful hardware and advanced AI, refusing to settle for a compromise. Conversely, 25% put AI above every other factor, and only 15% remain focused solely on hardware.
Understanding of AI features is relatively high: 57% of participants feel confident using them, whereas 43% admit to only occasional or partial use. Within the active user group, 49% routinely employ five or more AI functions, 41% are moderate users, and 10% activate AI tools only when required. These statistics underscore a significant growth avenue for manufacturers targeting AI‑centric smartphone experiences.
