₹5.55 Trillion MSP Procurement Sanctioned for Pulses, Oilseeds in Key States

In a bid to protect cultivators from volatile market rates, the Union Agriculture Minister announced a total MSP purchase worth ₹5,547.99 crore for the Kharif 2026-27 season. The scheme, part of the Price Support Scheme, will buy arhar and moong in Uttar Pradesh, soybean, moong and sunflower in Karnataka, and soybean and moong in Telangana at announced MSP levels. Uttar Pradesh receives the bulk of the funding – ₹3,992.57 crore – for 466,000 metric tonnes of arhar and 6,250 metric tonnes of moong. Karnataka’s allocation of ₹1,107 crore covers 115,500 metric tonnes of soybean, 38,250 metric tonnes of moong and 13,413 metric tonnes of sunflower. Telangana’s share of ₹448.42 crore purchases 62,000 metric tonnes of soybean and 10,766 metric tonnes of moong. The government pledged transparent procurement centres and direct cash transfers to ensure timely payment to farmers.
