  • YouTube removes PewDiePie video attacking top kids’ channel

    By IANS
SAN FRANCISCO: YouTube has removed a video posted by popular Swedish YouTuber PewDiePie for violating its guidelines around child safety.

In the video, the popular YouTuber attacked popular children’s channel Cocomelon’s content and poked fun at kids who watch the videos, reports The Verge.

“Our policies prohibit content that leads to repeated patterns of harassment on- and off-platform. Following a review, we’ve removed the video in question for violating those policies because they had the effect of encouraging abusive fan behaviour,” the report quoted a YouTube spokesperson as saying on Thursday.

The company also said that it had started to see increased harassment of Cocomelon in the wake of the PewDiePie video being posted.

Earlier, the YouTube star produced another controversial track targeting another popular platform.

In 2018, PewDiePie released Bitch Lasagna originally titled T-Series Diss Track when Bollywood channel T-Series. The track was accused for being very racially discriminating against Indians in general.

YouTube decided to take down the “Coco” video to prevent similar harassment of Cocomelon, which was created by a middle-aged Korean-American couple in Southern California.

  • ‘Heart attack, strokes’: Demi Lovato reveals 2018 overdose effects in YouTube documentary

    By ANI
WASHINGTON: American singer-songwriter Demi Lovato revealed that she suffered a heart attack and three strokes after her near-fatal overdose in 2018. According to Fox News, the ‘Anyone’ songstress got candid about her overdose in the trailer for her upcoming four-part documentary on YouTube, ‘Demi Lovato: Dancing with the Devil’.

The ‘Confident’ songstress said in the trailer, “My doctors said that I have five to 10 minutes,… I’ve had a lot of lives, like my cat. I’m on my ninth life.” The health crises came after several struggles with sobriety for the now-28-year-old pop star, who was found unconscious in her Hollywood Hills home in the summer of 2018, TMZ reported at the time.

Law enforcement told the outlet that she was treated with Narcan, an emergency medication that is often used to revive people in instances of narcotic overdoses.

As reported by Fox News, the songstress opened up further about her overdose and its lasting effects during YouTube’s TCA panel on Wednesday and revealed that she was also left with brain damage. “I was left with brain damage and I still deal with the effects of that today. I don’t drive a car because I have blind spots in my vision,” shared Lovato.

The singer-songwriter said that she also had a hard time reading because her vision was so blurred. It took about two months, she said, for her to “read out of a book”. “I dealt with a lot of the repercussions and I feel like they kind of are still there to remind me if I ever get into a dark place again. I”m grateful for those reminders, but I’m also … so grateful I was someone that didn’t have to do a lot of rehabbing,” said Lovato.

She said that her rehabilitation came “in the emotional side and the therapeutic side.” Fox News reported that the overdose and Lovato’s life afterward will be chronicled in the docuseries beginning on March 23. The singer says it was an opportunity for her to lay all of her cards on the table and be open for the sake of others.

  • YouTube Was Down Globally Earlier Today, Outage Map Shows Major Impact in North America

Google-owned video streaming giant YouTube faced a global outage earlier in the day today due to some issue which seems to have been fixed since then. It is not known what caused the outage but the live map on outage tracking website Downdetector.com shows that the major effect was in North America, with parts of Europe, Asia, and Australia also witnessing issues with YouTube. Reports said that YouTube was down for about an hour.

According to user reports on social media, YouTube was not able to play videos during the outage and showed an error saying, “an error occurred. Please try again later.” YouTube itself took notice of user reports on social media, as the company sent out a tweet from its official Twitter handle, saying that it has taken notice and is working on a fix. “If you’re having trouble watching videos on YouTube right now, you’re not alone – our team is aware of the issue and working on a fix. We’ll follow up here with any updates,” Team YouTube said in a Tweet. About two hours later, the company said that YouTube services are back up and running, further apologising for the interruption.

According to Downdetector.com, the maximum number of outage reports came in at around 6:39AM IST with as many as 3,500 users reporting that YouTube is down. Reports online have also said that the outage also affected other services that use the YouTube infrastructure like YouTube TV and movies and TV shows purchased via Google TV. At this moment, it seems that the issue was only with YouTube and no other Google service.
