  • Lord Krishna must be cursing: Yogi Adityanath takes swipe at Akhilesh Yadav for his claim

    Express News Service

LUCKNOW:  Taking a jibe at the purported letter written by BJP MP Harnath Singh Yadav to BJP boss JP Nadda, Samajwadi Party chief  Akhilesh Yadav said that Lord Krishna “regularly appears in his dreams” to say that the SP would form the government in Uttar Pradesh.

CM Yogi Adityanath was quick to retort saying that those who claim that Lord Krishna came into their dream must remember that he must be cursing them for the first ever riot in Kosikalan of Mathura in 2016.

“These people are the worshippers of demon king ‘Kansa’ and not Lord Krishna. On getting power, they hardly did any development of Mathura, Vrindavan and Barsana instead produced Kansa and orchestrated the blood bath of Jawaharbagh in which 26 lives were lost,” said Yogi.

Harnath had written to Nadda urging him to field Yogi from Mathura. The CM, however, has maintained that he would contest from wherever the party would want him to. Reacting to the letter, Akhilesh said no one can save the CM now.”

“Even Lord Krishna tells me that we shall form the government in UP. Lord Krishna appears not only on one night but he comes into my dreams every night to tell me that I will be making the next government in UP,” he added.

Under attack from the saffron brigade, the SP chief is about to visit Ayodhya to undertake the Phase 11 of his ambitious ‘Samajwadi Vijay Rath Yatra’, on January 8, 9.

  • Yogi Adityanath attacks Rahul, claims his ancestors called themselves ‘accidental Hindus’

    By PTI

AMETHI: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Monday targeted Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, saying who once sat on his knees in a temple instead of cross-legged is now giving lectures on the difference between Hindu and Hindutva.

The Uttar Pradesh CM claimed that the Congress leader’s family has said in the past that they are “Hindus by accident”, apparently eluding to a remark, supposedly made by former PM Jawaharlal Nehru.

Addressing a public meeting in Jagdishpur here after laying the foundation stone of a medical college, the CM claimed that the Congress leader was chided by a priest in a Gujarat temple when he went there during the Assembly elections and sat on his knees.

“The priest there asked him to sit cross-legged, saying it was a temple, not a mosque,” Adityanath claimed.

“Now those who do not even have this kind of ‘sanskar’, if they spread the propaganda about Hindu and Hindutva, then it is lack of understanding,” Adityanath said.

He said the Congress leader’s ancestors used to say that they are “Hindus by accident”.

If it is so, then “what do they know about Hindu and Hindutva”, Adityanath said attacking Rahul Gandhi, who has sought to draw a line between the two terms in his recent speeches.

Adityanath also accused the Congress of indulging in politics of “disintegration”.

“Those having disintegration and divisiveness in their genes, whose family calls themselves accidental Hindus, will never think for you but their compulsion is that people’s enthusiasm and faith compels them to bow down,” Adityanath said.

Further attacking Rahul Gandhi, he claimed, “Whenever the former Amethi MP is abroad, he speaks against India and when he is in Kerala, he speaks against Amethi and curses people of Amethi. No one should be so selfish that they should curse people to hide their failure.”

Adityanath alleged that the Gandhi family neglected Amethi for 50 years.

They never thought of its development, he said.

Today, after 70 years of Independence, his government has established a medical college here, the CM said.

The chief minister said the Government Medical College will have a 500-bed hospital, 100 MBBS seats, a hostel for 460 students and it will start functioning in 2022-23.

Adityanath also dedicated to people a 200-bed district referral hospital built at a cost of Rs 86.42 crore at Tiloi.

Apparently referring to Rahul Gandhi and his sister Priyanka Gandhi, he said the brother-sister duo committed a “fraud” in the name of organising buses to ferry migrants during the coronavirus lockdown in 2020.

He said on inquiry it came to light that they had given “numbers of scooters, instead of buses” to ferry people.

Union Minister Smriti Irani, who had defeated Rahul Gandhi from Amethi in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, said he and his family kept Amethi in darkness.

“Hand (Congress symbol) caught hold of bicycle (election symbol of Samajwadi Party) and riding on cycle and elephant (BSP symbol) despised the dreams of Amethi,” she said.

As soon as the elections come, the brother and sister came to Jagdishpur and talked about Hindu and Hindutva, she said.

“I want to tell them that the real Hindu is the one who is getting the Ram temple built in Ayodhya,” Irani said.

The family which ruled Amethi for 50 years is roaming around the state and speaking about girls but they could not give medical facilities to sisters of Amethi, she said.

  • 2022 UP polls: Mayawati urges people to ensure defeat of ‘anti-people’ parties

    By Express News Service

LUCKNOW: Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) chief Mayawati on Saturday accused the rivals of splurging public money in conducting huge rallies ahead of the 2022 Assembly elections and took a dig at them.

She termed her rival parties ‘anti-people’ and urged the voters to ensure that they fail to come to power.

Extending the new year wishes to the people of all three poll-bound states where the BSP has stakes, Mayawati said as the polls in Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and Punjab are nearing, the political parties were conducting more rallies at the expense of the people. She urged the electorate to use their right to vote to ensure the ouster of such anti-people parties.

The BSP chief alleged that the bigger political players such as BJP and Congress which had been in power at the Centre are only showing off ahead of state polls by conducting big and extravagant rallies.

“The rallies that they hold are out of Central fund which comes from common people’s taxes. My party cannot afford such big election rallies even if we want to. The BSP is a poor man’s party which consists of people such as labourers,” added Mayawati while interacting with reporters here on Saturday.

She further said that her party ideology did not support holding extravagant rallies. The BSP has its own strategy and way of connecting with the people. “We have a different way of holding our poll campaign. Others get funds from big corporate houses and industrialists and also from ponzi scams, but the BSP doesn’t”, added the BSP chief.

  • ‘BJP out to defame SP in alliance with IT, ED’: Akhilesh attacks Yogi

Yadav made the allegation claiming that his party has nothing to do with Kanpur-based perfume trader Piyush Jain, who, he asserted, was close to the BJP.

  • War of words intensifies between BJP, SP after IT recovers Rs 280 crore from UP businessman

    Express News Service

LUCKNOW: War of words intensified between UP CM Yogi Adityanath and his bête noir Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav on Monday over the seizure of unaccounted wealth to the tune of over Rs 280 crore belonging to perfume and Paan Masala trader Piyush Jain.

The officials of the Directorate General of GST Intelligence (DGGI) had on Sunday raided Jain’s house and factory in Kanpur and Kannauj and conducted searches for over 100 hours.  The cash seizure is likely to become an issue in the upcoming UP Assembly polls.

Both the BJP and SP leaders are trading charges on each other over links with the tainted trader who is now on a 14-day judicial remand.

UP CM Yogi Adityanath took a jibe at the SP linking the trader to it. The CM claimed that the premises of the businessman raided are in Kanpur and Kannauj which are the stronghold of the Samajwadi Party. The businessman had also linked with SP leaders.

Addressing a public meeting in Sitapur on Monday, CM Yogi said: “Today money is coming out of the walls of the house. The rooms are filled with cash. They kept Goddess Lakshmi locked in walls. Now it is clearly understood why Bua (Mayawati) and Babua (Akhilesh Yadav) used to oppose demonetization.”

Earlier also, the CM had tweeted from his personal handle saying that the people were now understanding the discomfort of ‘babua’ (Akhilesh Yadav) with demonetization. Even in his speech in Praygraj on Sunday, the CM had referred to the cash seized as the money of the poor accumulated during the previous regimes.

The Union Minister of State Shobha Karandlaje, who is one of the sub-in-charges of UP polls, claimed on Monday in Balrampur that the cash was being recovered from the premises of Piyush Jain was kept to meet the election expenses of the SP chief. She claimed that Jain had close links with the SP and he was Akhilesh Yadav’s disciple.

Meanwhile, SP chief Akhilesh Yadav denied his party’s links with the perfume trader saying it was unbecoming of a chief minister to lie. He also took to twitter to post a BJP poster saying ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vishwas Hamesh Shikhar Par’ deriving the link between the ruling party and the pan masala brand ‘shikhar’ of Piyush Jain.

Akhilesh Yadav wrote: “Jhhoot ke phool ki mil gayee jad, BJP ke girte star ka ‘shikar’ (the root of the flower of lies has been found which shows the pinnacle of the falling standards of the BJP).”

SP leader Manish Jagan Agarwal tweeted that the seizure of cash and valuables from the premises of Shikhar Pan Masala and perfume manufacturer Piyush Jain is the telltale failure of demonetization affected in the BJP rule. “BJP and media are purposely defaming the SP by linking Piyush Jain with it,” wrote Agarwal.

  • SP, BJP enter into Twitter war, armed with IT raid cartoons favouring them

    By PTI

LUCKNOW: The BJP and Samajwadi Party on Monday got embroiled in a Twitter spat armed with some media cartoons on recent IT searches of some SP leaders premises.

On his Twitter handle, SP president Akhilesh Yadav posted a cartoon showing an IT Department vehicle deployed “on election duty”.

The cartoon was titled “IT raids on premises of those close to Akhilesh”.

Posting the cartoon on his Twitter handle, Yadav further quoted a Tulsidas’ verse that read: “Hit unhit pashu pakshihu jana” which meant even birds and animals knew the truth behind it.

The UP BJP reacted to Yadav’s Twitter attack by posting another cartoon which showed an IT sleuth deployed on “national duty” holding a bird by the neck with a remark “assets exceeding income” written on one of its wings and Yadav crying: “This Yogi is very anupyogi”.

The UP BJP has further tagged the cartoon with its note: “Those having more assets than income start sweating on hearing of Income Tax people.”

The IT Department had on Saturday conducted searches at the residences of party spokesperson Rajiv Rai in Mau and OSD Jainendra Yadav of Akhilesh Yadav during the latter’s tenure as UP chief minister.

The IT Department sleuths had also raided the premises of businessman Rahul Bhasin in Lucknow and of contractor Manoj Yadav in Mainpuri.

  • ‘I will make it happen… I don’t lie’: Gadkari says UP will see roads worth Rs 5 lakh crore

    Express News Service

LUCKNOW: Urging the electorate to re-elect the BJP government in UP, Union Minister for Surface Transport Nitin Gadkari on Monday promised to make the highways better than the European standards and match them with the US parameters in the next five years.

“I will make that happen. I will do it to fulfil my promise. I never lie,” said the Union Minister in Jaunpur, the eastern UP district adjoining Varanasi, the parliamentary constituency of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Gadkari made the promise while dedicating four national highways and other development schemes worth Rs 1,123 crore to the people of Jaunpur in the presence of UP CM Yogi. They also launched another four national highway projects worth Rs 3,037 crore in Mirzapur on Monday.

Addressing a public rally in the Machchlishahr Assembly constituency of Jaunpur, Gadkari urged people to trust him and back the Yogi government for the development to take place at a higher pace in future. “Back Yogiji, elect the BJP again. I will bring in (road) development of another Rs 5 lakh crore in the state. When such work will happen, UP’s road infrastructure will match the US,” he said.

The Union minister claimed that he had a ministry with sufficient funds. “States will get tired seeking money but we won’t get tired of giving out. I assure you development worth a lakh crore rupees in UP, let the double engine government be formed in the state for next five years,” said Gadkari. The minister also praised the Yogi government over the law and order scenario and dismantling the organised crime syndicates being run by the mafia for the last so many years.

“In UP, the state government has bulldozed the mafia and goonda raj. Today the entire country is praising CM Yogi for action on mafia as he had brought the state back on the development track,” said Gadkari. The Union minister claimed that there was no place for dynastic politics in the BJP.

“We are not a clan-specific or family-specific party.  We are a cadre-based party of patriots,” said Gadkari asking the people to compare the state of affairs in UP when BJP was not in power with the situation today. He added that CM Yogi was taking the state towards ‘Ramrajya’ as perceived by Mahatma Gandhi.

Meanwhile, addressing the gathering on the occasion, UP CM Yogi Adityanath said that earlier governments had narrow thinking which was limited to one family only. “Now for PM Modi, 135 crore countrymen are a family hence big development projects are getting implemented,” he added.

Talking about the taint of corruption which UP had earlier, CM Yogi said during previous regimes, with the announcements of vacancies, the whole family used to go out for extortion in the name of providing the job. “But today we have given five lakh jobs and no one can raise finger on a single appointment because of the transparency in the process,” he maintained.

Taking a jibe over SP chief Akhilesh Yadav’s statement over the anti-COVID vaccine saying he would not get a jab as it was a BJP vaccine, CM Yogi said: “The vaccine which is being administered free of cost is saving people from COVID. Now the public will oppose those who opposed the vaccine,” said UP CM.

  • Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath getting my telephones tapped: Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav

    By PTI

LUCKNOW: Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav on Sunday accused Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath of getting his telephones tapped and listening to his talks every evening.

Yadav made the allegation while dubbing Adityanath as the most ‘anupyogi’ (useless) chief minister and seeking to counter Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s poll formula “UP+Yogi=Upyogi”, aimed at asserting the utility of the Adityanath government for UP’s growth.

A day after a string of Income Tax Department’s raids and searches at some SP leaders’ offices and residences, Yadav also alleged that wary of its impending defeat in the upcoming assembly elections, the BJP government would be misusing various enforcement agencies more and more to persecute SP leaders in days to come.

“All our telephonic conversations have been heard. This ‘anupyogi’ chief minister himself listens to the recordings of some people every evening,” Yadav alleged.

He also asked reporters to “remain alert, if you are speaking to me.”

The entire country knows that whenever the BJP is about to lose an election in any state, the frequency of the misuse of various enforcement agencies by the BJP rises, alleged UP’s former Chief Minister Yadav.

“The BJP is following the Congress’ way. Like Congress, it is rearing to use the central agencies to instil fear (rival among political parties),” said Yadav.

“Seeing the atmosphere in the state, I can say that the Yogi government will not last, The people have made up their mind for a ‘yogya’ (able) government,” said Yadav.

“No government could be more ‘anupyogi’ (useless) than this government, It has ruined Uttar Pradesh,” he asserted.

  • 2022 UP polls: BJP strategists working to stem rebellion over ticket denial

    Express News Service

LUCKNOW: The ruling BJP, which had contemplated denying tickets to a major chunk of sitting MLAs for the 2022 assembly polls, is now re-drawing a strategy of shuffling of the seats to stem any possible rebellion in the party.

As per the highly-placed sources, the BJP is planning to field the sitting MLAs low on the popularity graph on a different seat either in the same or different district.

The party insiders claimed that a survey carried out by the party top brass and the state government across UP found that at many places the electorate was unhappy with the local MLA but still wanted to vote in the name of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and UP CM Yogi Adityanath. “The people are happy and content with the way Yogi government has worked so far despite having issues of non-performance with their MLAs,” said a senior BJP leader.

The BJP sources claim that as per the survey, people are not happy with the functioning of around 50 per cent of the current 304 sitting MLAs in their respective areas. The party insiders say in order to return to power, the party will need to deny tickets to at least 30-40 per cent of the sitting MLAs by fielding fresh faces in their place.

ALSO READ | UP polls: RLD chief formally announces alliance with SP, says BJP’s politics of hatred will be rejected

“This will help the party to maintain the connect with the electorate and mobilize them in party’s favour in the constituencies where voters are not happy with the sitting MLA,” said a BJP leader.

At high-level confabulations among the top party leaders, it is believed to have surfaced that rebellion may strike the party if the SP, BSP and Congress turncoats who had joined the BJP ahead of 2017 were denied tickets despite figuring low on popularity graph in their respective constituencies.

“Such MLAs constitute around 30-40 per cent of the total BJP strength in the assembly. If they are denied ticket this time, they may resort to rebellion and may challenge the BJP candidate on a ticket from either SP, BSP or Congress spoiling the equation for the party,” said a senior BJP leader.

Taking all these factors into account, the ruling party has decided to deny tickets only to those sitting MLAs who, if turn rebel, do not have much impact on the party’s performance, said the party sources.

On the contrary, the MLAs with promising clout in their respective caste base could be shuffled. They could be fielded from a different seat to check the possible drift in their caste base to other parties, claimed a senior BJP leader. The party sources said the seats of sitting MLAs belonging to Kurmi, Maurya, Rajbhar, Brahmins, Thakur and some other castes could be changed.
