  • Yogi commits to fulfill party’s ‘sankalp’ for Uttar Pradesh with dedication, honesty

    Express News Service

LUCKNOW: Extending his gratitude to the people of Uttar Pradesh for the huge mandate given to the BJP for a second consecutive term, a visibly emotional Yogi Adityanath, after being unanimously elected as legislative party leader on Thursday, reiterated his commitment to fulfill the ‘sankalp’ (resolutions and promises) mentioned in BJP ‘sankalp patra’ (manifesto) with utmost honesty anddedication.

He also thanked the electorate for creating history by repeating a Chief Minister after a successful completion of five year term for the first time in UP.

“For the first time, a Chief Minister completed his five-year tenure and the party came to power once again for the second time (in Uttar Pradesh). This has happened for the first time. It has happened under the guidance and leadership of PM Modi,” said Yogi with a lump in the throat.

At the same time, he exhorted newly-elected BJP MLAs and allies alike to work together to take UP further on path of rapid development making it number one state in the country. “We have to work with conviction to take UP on top in the country realizing PM Modi’s dream by making it a number one economy,” said Yogi Adityanath.

During his first tenure, Yogi had been harping on making UP country’s number one economy worth one trillion dollars. Yogi Adityanath was elected as the leader of the BJP’s legislative party in UttarPradesh ahead of his swearing-in ceremony on Friday as the chief minister of the state for a second straight term.

The party’s legislature party meeting, attended by senior leaders, including Amit Shah as central observer, began with chants of Bharat Mata ki jai and Vande Mataram in Lucknow on Thursday afternoon.

Nine-time MLA from Shahjahanpur and Finance minister in previous Yogi cabinet, Suresh Khanna proposed the name of Yogi Adityanath as the leader of BJP legislative party and it was seconded by newly elected MLAs including Surya Pratap Shahi, Baby Rani Maurya, Ram Naresh Agnihotri, Sushil Shakya, and Nand Gopal Gupta Nandi, in the presence of all 273 NDA legislators at Lok Bhawan.

“We have got a two-third majority as people acknowledged our diligence with which we worked during the last five years. We have proved our mettle in people’s court,” said Yogi Adityanath at the meeting. He said that the result of UP assembly polls was the rejection of the politics of dynasty, corruption andcasteism.

However, he also cautioned his fellow MLAs against committing the mistake of considering themselves the master of people after getting power. “Instead work as the people’s servant following PM Modi who always works as a ‘Pradhan sewak’,” said Yogi.

“Getting power should not be a matter of pride for us, rather it should be one of a bigger responsibility to serve the people of the state with more vigour, dedication and honesty,” said Yogi. He prepared the party MLAs for “the days of real test ahead”.

“Now we will have to compete with ourselves. In our previous stint, our good governance had to compete with poor governance of previous governments but now we have to work hard on ways to make the benefits of good and clean governance reach every household and to those standing on the last rung of society,” he averred.

Reminding the newly elected lawmakers of PM Modi’s mantra of ‘sabka saath, sabka vikas and Sabka Vishwas, Yogi claimed it made an impact on the people despite the opposition’s false propaganda against the party.

“For the first time poor believed that they could own a house, people realized that UP can be a riot-free state where festivals can be celebrated peacefully,” the CM-designate said.  Accepting his administrative inexperience in 2017, Yogi Adityanath thanked PM Modi to guide him the finer points of good governance.

Later taking over the stage, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, who supervised the proceedings of the legislature party meeting as central observer along with Raghubar Das a his co-observer, heaped praise on CM-designate Yogi Adityanath saying that though he was being elected legislative party leader today but the people of UP had elected him Chief Minister  on March 10.

“Yogi Adityanath is the only CM who has been elected for a second consecutive term for the work he did during the last five years,”  said Shah while adding that it was under Yogi Adityanath’s government that the foundation of growth and development was laid in UP and hoped that in his second term as CM, that foundation would be consolidated with the equal dedication and honesty.

Shah attributed the success of BJP to Yogi governance which brought about a major change in governance by ending politicization of bureaucracy, criminalization of politics and demolition of mafia syndicates. “For the first time in Yogi government a trust was created among the poor sections that therewas somebody to listen to them,” said Shah while calling upon the BJP MLAs to work unitedly as a team to take UP to the newer heights of development and good governance.

Later in the evening, Yogi Adityanath, accompanied with senior BJP leaders and allies went to Raj Bhawan to hand over the letter of support of 273 MLAs and stake the calm for the formation of new government in UP.

Roads leading to Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium, the venue for the event, have been decorated with lights.

Cut-outs of PM Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah and Adityanath have been put up along the road. The BJP-led alliance had won 273 of 403 seats in the just-concluded Uttar Pradesh Assembly polls. The alliance led by the main opposition Samajwadi Party (SP) bagged 125 seats.

UP BJP general secretary J P S Rathore told PTI, “Invitations to dignitaries are being sent both by the party and the state government. Chief ministers of all BJP-ruled states have been invited. Invites have also been sent to opposition leaders in the state.”

Adityanath has personally sent invitations to over 50 seers, including those from Ayodhya, Mathura and Varanasi.

Vishwa Hindu Parishad’s state-level functionary Dinesh Shankar said, “Prominent seers, along with senior members of Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra trust, have been invited for the ceremony.”

Meanwhile, Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav and his ally RLD chief Jayant Chaudhary said they won’t attend the swearing-in ceremony.

Akhilesh had attended Adityanath’s oath ceremony in 2017 along with his father Mulayam Singh Yadav. The other prominent personalities who will turn up for the event are yoga guru Baba Ramdev, “The Kashmir Files” director Vivek Agnihotri and actor Anupam Kher.

While four pitches of the cricket stadium have been barricaded, seating arrangements have been made on the entire ground. The underpasses of Shaheed Path are also being painted. The ceremony is expected to begin from 4 pm onwards.

Adityanath had kickstarted his election campaign from the stadium in December when he distributed tablets and mobile phones among students in a grand event. The swearing-in ceremony is expected to be the grandest in terms of numbers since 2007.

In 2017, the oath-taking ceremony was held at Kanshiram Smriti Upvan. The Uttar Pradesh Police has made tight security arrangements.

Additional Director General of Police (Law and Order) Prashant Kumar said, “Close to 8000 personnel of the Uttar Pradesh Police, Provincial Armed Constabulary (PAC) along with specialised units like the Special Task Force (STF) and the Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) have been deployed.”

“The access to the venue will be strictly regulated with ATS commandos manning all sensitive spots. Each visitor will be screened before being allowed to enter the venue. Door frame metal detectors and hand held metal detectors are being set up at every entry point,” he said.

Police have also installed CCTV cameras in and around the venue. The feed from the CCTV cameras will be monitored live at the control room under the supervision of senior officials. Drones will also be kept on standby, said Kumar.

According to officials, a three-layer security will be put in place at the venue. The Lucknow police commissionerate has also issued a detailed traffic diversion plan for the entire day. It has also launched a helpline for people stuck in the traffic.

  • After UP’s ‘Bulldozer Baba’, MP CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan dons role of ‘Bulldozer Mama’

    Express News Service

BHOPAL: After the recent assembly poll success of ‘Bulldozer Baba’ (Yogi Adityanath) in UP, CM of adjoining MP Shivraj Singh Chouhan has donned the role of ‘Bulldozer Mama’.

While hoardings and posters bearing the pictures of Shivraj Singh Chouhan as ‘Bulldozer Mama’ were put up by his supporters, including local BJP MLA Rameshwar Sharma in Bhopal, around 150 km away in Khamaria village of Raisen district, the CM himself announced to accelerate his bulldozing plans against goons and mafia.

Addressing the tribals in Khamaria village after meeting the bereaved family of Raju Adivasi (who was killed in Muslims-Tribals clash on March 18 evening), Chouhan said, “all goons and criminals in MP just hear this clearly, if you dare to put your hand on the poor and helpless, then I’ll ensure that your houses are uprooted and flattened with bulldozers.”

“When I became the CM (in 2005), I had decided that either I will stay in MP or the dacoits will stay in the ravines of Chambal. Not even a single dacoit is left in the state now. Now it’s the time for the bulldozer to be in action against all goons and anti-social elements who are targeting the poor, helpless and women. The bulldozer has already been in action against such elements in Raisen, Seoni, Shahdol, Sheopur and Jaora, the bulldozing of houses of goons and anti-socials will continue. I’ll ensure that the existence of goons and criminals end in MP,” declared Chouhan on Tuesday.

Lashing out at the opposition Congress and its state president Kamal Nath over politicising the recent clash between Muslims and tribals in Khamaria (Raisen), “we all are sad over your irreparable loss, but some others are playing politics over the death of poor by just tweeting over the issue. Let them continue tweeting as they are never among the people on the ground. I’m repeating again, all goons and anti-socials hear it clearly, this is not the Congress or Kamal Nath regime. It’s my government, Mama’s bulldozer will not stop, till the goons and anti-social elements who trouble the poor and helpless aren’t buried.”

He also directed the local police force and forest department staff to carry out house to house searches of all those accused in the March 18 evening incident which led to young tribal Raju Adivasi’s killing. While handing over a Rs 5 lakh cheque as compensation to Raju’s widow, the CM announced that two houses (one for Raju’s father and another for his brother) will be built for which money has already been released. “Also, the little ones (son and daughter) of Raju will get Rs 2,000 monthly till they become majors,” the CM announced.

Importantly, each of the 38 people who were hurt in the clash (over a small argument on March 18 evening) will get Rs 50,000 from the state government as relief, while three critically injured tribals have been sanctioned Rs 2 lakh each.

According to the MP government’s official statement, in the last two years of the present regime, major bulldozing action has been initiated against massive encroachments of 29 goons, mafia and anti-social elements in at least 18 districts.

Recently, houses and properties of men accused of the murder of tribals, gang rape and killing of girls have been bulldozed in Raisen, Shahdol, Seoni and Sheopur districts.

The opposition Congress, meanwhile, slammed the move, accusing the BJP government of indulging in theatrics to avoid accountability. Congress state spokesperson KK Mishra said, “BJP is ruling for the past 15 years, still they are misleading people in the name of bulldozers. The government should do something to prevent these heinous crimes that are being committed against women and children every day. I feel Mama is now treading the path of Yogi (Adityanath) to save himself.”

  • Stage set for grand swearing-in ceremony for second Yogi government

    By PTI

LUCKNOW: The stage is set for a grand swearing-in ceremony of the second Yogi Adityanath government in Uttar Pradesh at the sprawling Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ikana stadium in the state capital on March 25.

According to sources, an all important meeting of the BJP legislature party to elect its leader will be held Thursday evening, in which Union Union Home minister Amit Shah and former Chief Minister of Jharkhand Raghubar Das will take part as observer and co-observer.

The formality of electing Yogi Adityanath as the new chief minister will be done in the meeting, they said on Tuesday.

Shah will also deliberate on the constitution of the ministry in the meeting with the newly elected MLAs, they said.

On Monday, state unit president of the party Swatantra Dev Singh and general secretary (organisation) Sunil Bansal had held a meeting with party office bearers, during which they were assigned with responsibilities for the swearing-in ceremony.

After coming to power with full majority in 2017 assembly elections, the BJP had chosen Adityanath, the five-term MP from Gorakhpur, as the state CM, and had also made him the leader of the BJP legislature party.

On March 19, 2017, Yogi took the oath as chief minister of UP along with two deputy Chief ministers Keshav Prasad Maurya and Dinesh Sharma, as well as other ministers.

During the recently concluded assembly elections, BJP and its allies together posted victory on 273 of the total 403 seats.

The party set a record of forming a government with full majority for the second consecutive term after a gap of 37 years in the politically important state.

Congress was the last party to have achieved the feat in 1985, when it returned to power with full majority for a second term under Narain Dutt Tiwari.

BJP state general Secretary Govind Narayan Shukla said elaborate preparations are underway at the Atal Bihari Vajpayee stadium on the Shahid Path for a grand swearing in ceremony.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and a large number of central ministers and eminent personalities from different fields are expected to be present there.

A letter on behalf of Shukla has been sent to the party’s many regional and district in-charge, presidents, and district presidents, thanking them for the party’s victory and urging them to attend the event.

Through the letter Shukla tasked the office bearers with the job of preparing a list of attendees and arrange for them the invitation and admit cards.

The office-bearers were also asked to visit a temple and perform a ‘puja’ between 8 am and 10 am on the day ministers take oath.

  • Not interested in attending Yogi’s swearing in ceremony: Akhilesh

    Express News Service

LUCKNOW: Amid preparations for the swearing-in ceremony of UP CM-designate Yogi Adityanath scheduled for March 25 going on war footing, Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav , on Monday, made it clear that he won’t be attending the event.

While talking to media persons, the SP chief said that he was not interested in attending the swearing –in ceremony. “Neither I think I will be invited nor I am interested in attending the swearing-in ceremony of UP CM – designate Yogi Adityanath on March 25,” said Akhilesh adding that his only suggestion to the UP government was that the dispensation should not lie to the people of UP anymore.

In recently concluded assembly elections, SP raised its tally from 47 to 111 and took it to 125 along with its ally but failed to form the government as the ruling BJP secured two-third majority  by winning 255 seats on its own and 273 along with its allies.

The new government in Uttar Pradesh, led by Yogi Adityanath, will take the oath of office at 4 pm on March 25 at the Atal Bihari Vajpayee stadium in the state capital. The ceremony will be attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and home minister Amit Shah along with the CMs of BJP ruled states and otherdignitaries.

Meanwhile, the BJP sources  confirmed that the party had made an extensive list of over 200 VVIP guests including former CM  Akhilesh Yadav, SP patriarch Mulayam Singh Yadav , BSP chief and former UP CM Mayawati, along with Congress president Sonia Gandhi, Wayanad MP Rahul Gandhi and AICC general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, to be invited to the swearing-in ceremony.

Earlier in the day, the SP chief  went on a surprise visit to his parliamentary constituency of Azamgarh and met party’s newly  elected MLAs at nine-time winner from Azamgarh Sadar and former UP minister Durga Prasad Yadav’s house.

Samajwadi Party has won all the 10 assembly segments falling in Azamgarh district where the BJP drew a blank in recently concluded Assembly elections. As per the highly placed SP sources, Akhilesh Yadav held a meeting of his party’s Azamgarh  legislators for half an hour to get their point of view over resigning from one of the two positions – either as Azamgarh MP or Karhal MLA—in the days to come. Akhilesh has done his assembly election debut from Karhal in his bastion of Mainpuri winning the seat with a margin of around 60,000 votes.

Earlier, in Karhal, Akhilesh had told his voters that  final decision over retaining the Karhal seat or  Azamgarh Lok Sabah seat would be taken only after consulting his Azamgarh supporters.

The SP sources also speculated that Akhilesh may retain Azamgarh and quit Karhal seat as SP had only five member in Lok Sabha and if Akhilesh quit Azamgarh, it would bring his party’s tally down by one in lower house of parliament.

Similarly, party MP from Rampur, who has won from Rampur assembly seat in recently concluded assembly polls, is expected o retain his parliamentary seat quitting assembly segment in order to maintain party strength  in Lok Sabha.

  • Free ration scheme for 15 crore people in UP may be extended till 2024 Lok Sabha polls

    Express News Service

LUCKNOW: As promised by CM Yogi Adityanath and PM Narendra Modi during their poll rallies, the free ration scheme for 15 crore people from the economically weaker sections in Uttar Pradesh may be extended till 2024, the year when the next Lok Sabha elections are scheduled to be held. The free ration scheme had a great traction among both urban and the rural voters during the state assembly elections.

However, a final decision in this regard is expected soon from the government. The free ration scheme for the economically weaker sections was started in the state by the Yogi Adityanath government during the second wave of COVID-19. The schemewas supposed to last till November 2021 but keeping in mind the pandemic situation in the state and the response of the people, the state government decided to continue it till the end of March 2022.

Now sources have revealed that the government is contemplating extending the scheme till the 2024 Lok Sabha elections and a proposal in this regard has also been sent to the Food and Civil Supplies department. A final decision is expected afterthe government is formed post-Holi.

Though many see it as a political move with an eye on the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, the BJP says it is a step taken for the welfare of the people to ensure that no one goes hungry. The Yogi Adityanath government was giving free ration to almost 15crore people every month through the Public Distribution System (PDS). People have been getting free ration twice a month at the rate of five kg per unit in the ration card by both the state and the central government.

According to UP BJP spokesman Rakesh Tripathi, there were no means of earning for poor people on a daily wage amid the lockdown and hence the government had introduced the Garib Kalyan Ann Yojana. “Our government wants to ensure that no one goes hungry and everyone who needs ration should get it,” he added.

  • BJP moves to find lasting solution to stray cattle issue in UP

    Express News Service

LUCKNOW: Days after winning the polls in UP, the BJP has moved to find ways to fulfill the promises it made in its election manifesto.

The party has decided to tackle the issue of stray cattle on priority as it had great resonance and anger against the ruling party on the ground. Moreover, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had also promised to the voters at a rally in Unnao before the fifth phase of the assembly polls a lasting solution to the stray cattle problem on priority after coming to power.

Moving ahead to find a lasting solution to the perennial problem of stray cattle, the BJP, which is yet to form the formal government in the state, is contemplating setting up large and sustainable cattle protection centres with biogas plants in each district across the state. As per the plan, a fine would also be imposed on those found freeing the cattle to feed on crops in rural areas, said the highly placed sources.

During the elections, the issue of stray cattle was a big issue in rural areas right from the west to the east. People used to rake up the issue which was the result of the policy of shutting down illegal slaughterhouses where infirm cattle used to be slaughtered. However, after coming to power in 2017, Yogi Adityanath’s government first decision was to shut illegal slaughterhouses and send the infirmed cattle to protection houses.

As per the sources, the animal husbandry department on Monday made a presentation on a new plan to deal with the stray cattle problem to chief secretary DS Mishra. However, the final approval to the plan would be given by Yogi Adityanath himself after taking the oath of office.

At the Monday meeting, it was proposed to set up large and financially sustainable cattle protection centre in each of the 75 districts.

According to an official, with the housing capacity for 1,000 or more animals, each such centre would have a biogas plant to produce cooking gas and sell the same to locals besides making products from cattle dung thus paving way for the farmers to earn more through infirmed cattle.

Currently, the state government is protecting nine lakh infirmed cattle at protection centres. Of those, one lakh have been given to farmers. Moreover, those entrusted with protecting cattle are given Rs 900 per month per animal for its nurturing.

As per the senior officials, there is also a proposal to fix a fine as a deterrent to being imposed on the villagers who would be found freeing their cattle to feed upon the crops. The provision of the fine already existed in cities.

The sources also claimed that under the new scheme of things, the Panchayati Raj department would be entrusted with catching the stray cattle and putting them into the cattle protection centres in the rural areas and the local bodies in the cities. The animal husbandry department’s job may largely be confined toear-tagging, vaccination and treatment of cattle.

  • Caste to class, BJP reaps benefit of welfare schemes

The Uttar Pradesh Assembly election is over, with an amazing victory for BJP. Yogi Adityanath is again going to form the government, with more caution and a balancing attitude. The UP election and even the election in Uttarakhand sent out messages we need to read. The first message from UP is, a class has started emerging in the caste-based society, especially among the marginalised and poor communities.

The process is slow, but it has started. This process started not because of any Left ideology, but due to the socio-economic empowerment of the poor communities. The Narendra Modi-led BJP government since 2014 started various social welfare schemes such as Ujjwala Yojana, free ration, PM Awas Yojana, direct cash transfer and pension plans.

Every party in power makes its own beneficiaries, but BJP through constant connect with the beneficiaries, transformed them into a community with consciousness. The party transformed them from a mere physical body to conscious beings who vote for the party.

Badri NarayanThis beneficiary community is beyond caste and religion and it emerged as a community that broke its caste identity boundaries. Modi appealed to the party’s cadres to go to the houses of the PM Awas Yojana beneficiaries on the day of Diwali, light candles with them and distribute sweets. The BJP invented various ways to connect with these beneficiaries. But this beneficiary consciousness is transitory and the party needs to constantly come up with new plans for their empowerment, for gradually responding to these growing aspirational consciousness of the poor and marginalised.

It is very interesting to observe that the party started its election campaign in UP with developmental claims and describing its success in delivering various social welfare schemes among the poor and marginalised. Dharmendra Pradhan, minister of education and in-charge of UP election 2022, facilitated cadres to interact with these beneficiaries and encourage them to go to the polling booths. This mobilising strategy worked.

We were observing the trajectories of UP elections closely. What we observed when PM Narendra Nodi took the lead of of the campaign, it brought a qualitative change in the entire electioneering process. His charisma, ways of connecting with people worked well and many BJP candidates who could have lost, ultimately won. For us on the field who were observing this, it was like magic, what people call Modi magic.

Thirdly, BJP as a very effective election machine worked well and harnessed this victory. Its star campaigners such as Modi, Yogi, Amit Shah, Rajnath Singh were making an impact through their rallies and meetings. On the other hand, hardworking organisers such as Pradhan, worked tirelessly on the ground.

Last but not the least, the Sangh cadres worked voluntarily during this election and organised local war rooms. They also  interacted with the beneficiaries, other than working at the booth level. All this put together produced such a result, not only in UP but also in Uttarakhanad. This beneficiary consciousness and Modi magic produced this victory, which might have come as a surprise to many.

  • New faces likely in Yogi Cabinet 2.0; caste balance, performance to decide new team

    By ANI

LUCKNOW: Days after the BJP retained power for the second consecutive term in Uttar Pradesh, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath is scheduled to visit Delhi on Sunday to discuss the new cabinet with Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

State President Swatantrata Dev Singh, BJP leader Sunil Bansal, state in-charge Radha Mohan Singh will also accompany Adityanath to Delhi on Sunday.

It is being speculated that the BJP leadership has prepared a basic list of probable Deputy Chief Ministers and Ministers on the basis of qualification, caste and regional equations because BJP gives place to every caste in its cabinet. The Central leadership will have the final say on the list.

For the post of Deputy Chief Minister, the names of Swatantra Dev Singh, Baby Rani Maurya, Brijesh Pathak and Keshav Prasad Maurya are in talks. Swatantra Dev Singh was the Transport Minister, apart from this he was the BJP state president.

Keshav Prasad Maurya has definitely lost from Sirathu seat in the elections this time but he is the face of OBC. As Deputy Chief Minister, he has governed the state well, so once again he can be made the Deputy Chief Minister.

Baby Rani Maurya has been the Governor of Uttarakhand and is a well-known face of Jatav society in Uttar Pradesh. Brijesh Pathak, of the Brahmin community, has been a law minister in the Uttar Pradesh government. UP BJP chief Swatantra Dev Singh, who is also a Kurmi leader, was one of the prominent faces behind BJP’s big win in Uttar Pradesh.

Law Minister Brijesh Pathak, who won from Lucknow Cantonment seat, may get the role of Deputy Chief Minister in the Yogi government to maintain the Brahmin equation. In Yogi Sarkar 2, the leadership is also considering the inclusion of two former police officers in the new cabinet- Rajeshwar Singh and Asim Arun.

The newly-elected MLA from Sarojini Nagar seat of Lucknow, Dr Rajeshwar Singh was an officer of Uttar Pradesh Police. BJP MLA Aseem Arun has won from Kannauj (Sadar) seat. Asim Arun was an officer of the rank of ADG. Before being the first police commissioner of Kanpur, Asim Arun’s father late Ram Arun was twice the DGP of Uttar Pradesh.

Many Bharatiya Janata Party leaders have won by a huge margin of votes. In this, the candidate from the Noida Assembly seat and Union Defense Minister Rajnath Singh’s son Pankaj Singh has won by a margin of 1,81,513 votes.

The BJP senior leaders are also discussing Pankaj Singh getting a place in the Yogi cabinet. Till now, no one from Noida had got a place in the Yogi cabinet, so it is expected that this time Pankaj Singh, who has performed brilliantly in 2017 and now in 2022 too, can be made a minister in the Yogi government.

Shalabh Mani Tripathi, a Brahmin young face close to Yogi and an experienced journalist, can be made a minister in the Yogi cabinet. Shalabh has also been in ABVP earlier.Allies Apna Dal and Nishad Party would also get a place in the Cabinet-MLC Ashish Patel and Sanjay Nishad can get important roles to play.

Besides the new faces, old leaders like Suresh Khanna, who won with a landslide victory from the Shahjahanpur seat for the ninth consecutive time, can also be made a minister.Brijesh Pathak and Keshav Prasad Maurya can also be part of the cabinet again.

The swearing-in of the Yogi government is likely to be held on March 15 or 21.

Adityanath on Friday tendered his resignation to Governor Anandiben Patel at the Raj Bhavan in Lucknow.

Following the massive victory in the Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections, Adityanath on Friday held a meeting with his ministerial colleagues at the party office in Lucknow. Adityanath, a monk-turned-politician, won his first-ever Assembly election by a margin of 1,03,390 from Gorakhpur Urban constituency, defeating the Samajwadi Party candidate Subhawati Upendra Dutt Shukla, who secured 62,109 votes in the recently-concluded UP Assembly elections. Adityanath will be the first Chief Minister in the last 37 years to return to power after completing a full term in the state.
