The stage is set in Bengaluru for the 18th TCS World 10K on April 26, where a galaxy of global running stars will chase glory on the city’s iconic course. This elite 10K event continues to draw the planet’s fastest, blending high stakes with the vibrant energy of India’s Silicon Valley.

Stealing the spotlight in the men’s category is Uganda’s rising sensation Herbert Kibet. At just 20, the former world junior finalist shattered expectations with a 26:39 triumph in Castellon earlier this year—a world lead and the event’s sixth-quickest mark. Among five sub-27-minute performers this season, he’ll contend with 11 rivals quicker than Bengaluru’s 27:38 course record.

Kibet shared his excitement: “Racing in India for the first time at TCS World 10K Bengaluru feels special. My form is outstanding, and I plan to seize every opportunity.”

Ethiopia’s Khairi Beziga, Burundi’s silver medalist Rodrig Kwizera, Gemechu Dida, and Tadesse Worku—a previous Bengaluru runner-up—pose serious threats. Muktar Edris, double 5000m world champ, elevates the competition further.

Women’s defending champ Sara Chelangat eyes back-to-back victories, her second such streak here. Kenyans have owned 10 of 15 titles, and this year Brenda Jepchirchir leads with her Valencia 29:25. Lilian Rengeruk Kasait, back as 2024 winner, Beatrice Chepkoech, and Cynthia Chepngeno’s silver medals from Bengaluru and Shanghai last year promise fireworks.

As athletes arrive, anticipation builds for a race that could see new benchmarks set, reinforcing Bengaluru’s status as a premier global running destination.
