  • Donald Trump ‘still Involved In Ongoing Litigation’ Related To US Election: White House

White House spokeswoman Kayleigh McEnany on December 15 said that US President Donald Trump will continue his legal fight for re-election. On Monday, President-elect Joe Biden had sealed his electoral victory over Trump after gaining 306 electoral college votes. These votes, that aligned with the previous results called by major American media outlets, will now be sent to the Congress to be counted formally next month

Trump continues to repeatedly question the legitimacy of Joe Biden’s win and seeking recounts in several states, despite election officials have already certified the President-elect’s victory. Following the result, incumbent President also announced that Attorney General William Barr, who contradicted the outgoing president’s claims that November 3 election was marred by fraud, would leave his post next week. Further, after Supreme Court rejected to overturn the vote count in four swing states- Georgia, Michigan, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin, Trump also accused the country’s highest judicial institution of having neither wisdom nor courage.

  • Donald Trump Supporters Clash With Antifa Group During ‘Stop The Steal’ Protests

Hundreds of Donald Trump supporters coalesced on the streets across the United States on December 11 to protest against Democrat Joe Biden’s electoral victory. Violence broke out in Washington DC where far right groups clashed with counter protesters despite heavy police presence. In the aftermath, the cops tried to control the brawl between Antifa and Proud boys with tear gases and pepper sprays, The Guardian reported.

The organizers of the protests ‘Stop The Steal’ urged protestors to join ‘Jericho marches’ and prayer rallies calling out authorities to overturn the election results. However, nearly 200 members of a violent Right Wing group ‘Proud Boys’ got into a scuffle with counter protesters Antifa group, which rallied against fascism.

Cops jumped in forcing pepper sprays on those involved in the violence. As per Guardian, members of the ‘Proud Boys’ group, who were wearing combat fatigues and ballistic vests flashed hand signals used by white nationalists. The two groups also shouted verbal abuses at each other, but police dispersed the crowd.

According to the Metropolitan Police, cops sprayed at least two counter protesters and arrested six people involved. Apart from Washington, the protests were organized in Georgia, Pennsylvania, Michigan, Wisconsin, Nevada and Arizona, where Trump’s campaign has filed multiple lawsuits claiming ‘voter fraud’. However, the Trump campaign had to suffer not one, but many jolts as judges in various states, Texas being the latest, rejected the claim and hailed Joe Biden as President-elect.

  • Donald Trump’s Legal Team ‘not Finished’ After Supreme Court Defeat, Says Rudy Giuliani

US President Donald Trump’s personal attorney, Rudy Giuliani on December 11 indicated that Trump’s legal team will continue to challenge the outcome of the November 3 presidential elections. Giuliani’s comments come after the Supreme Court rejected to overturn the vote count in four swing states- Georgia, Michigan, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin. The Supreme Court said that the lawsuit led by Texas lacked the legal right to litigate over how other states conduct their elections. However, Trump’s attorney indicated that the President could bring his complaints back to the lower courts.

Giuliani’s remarks follow the most significant legal setback the GOP legal campaign has suffered since the election. Trump and his allies in state government have repeatedly pushed lawsuits based on spurious claims that widespread voter fraud and irregularities cost the president the election. However, almost all of them have been dismissed for lack of evidence of standing. Giuliani has also been making high-profile appearances in front of lawmakers in battleground states, even though he has failed to sway any state to subvert the election result.

Trump, on the other hand, continues to repeatedly question the legitimacy of Joe Biden’s win and seeking recounts in several states, despite election officials have already certified the President-elect’s victory in the presidential polls. Following the order by the US Apex Court, evidently disappointed Donald Trump also took to Twitter and said that the Supreme Court “let us down”. While Trump accused the country’s highest judicial institution of having neither wisdom nor courage, Joe Biden’s campaign spokesperson Mike Gwin said that the decision was “no surprise”. As per reports, the Texas attorney general called the court’s order “unfortunate” and pledged to continue to ‘tirelessly defend the integrity and security’ of the US Elections.
