Veteran Hollywood actor Rita Moreno has joined the cast of the upcoming tenth instalment of Fast and Furious. The film, titled Fast X, will have Moreno playing Dominic Toretto’s (Vin Diesel) grandmother.

The news was announced by Diesel through a video message in which he appeared along with Moreno and the Fast and Furious regular star Michelle Rodriguez. “It’s been my dream forever to work with Rita Moreno, and the fact that she’s here playing my grandmother makes my soul smile. I’m so blessed,” said Diesel.

  • Louis Leterrier to replace Justin Lin as director of 10th Fast and Furious

    By Express News Service

French director Louis Leterrier is likely to helm the new Fast & Furious sequel, Fast X. It may be noted that Justin Lin stepped down as director after a week of production last week. Leterrier is reportedly Universal’s choice to replace Lin, but the deal is yet to be signed because his schedule needs to be worked out.

Leterrier is a well-known director who has directed several popular films including The Transporter, The Transporter 2, The Incredible Hulk, and Now You See Me. While, Lin had directed several of the franchise’s previous films including Fast & Furious, Fast & Furious 6, and the recent F9.

Universal has declined to comment on the exact reason behind replacing directors of Fast X. They have only listed creative differences as the reason. Production of the film is currently taking place in London and Second Unit footage has yet to wrap, with Fast X currently set to be released on May 19, 2023.

Lin is still staying on the film as a producer, alongside Vin Diesel, Neal Moritz, Jeff Kirschenbaum, and Samantha Vincent. He co-wrote Fast X’s script with Dan Mazeau. The film will see Diesel, Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibson, Chris “Ludacris” Bridges, Jordana Brewster, Nathalie Emmanuel, Sung Kang, and Charlize Theron reprise their roles from previous instalments of the Fast & Furious franchise.

“Yeah yeah yeah”,  you see this angel over my shoulder cracking me up, you say to yourself. ‘That’s Captain Marvel.’ Clearly there is love and laughter in this image. What you don’t see, however, is the character you will be introduced to in ‘Fast 10’.

“You have no idea how timeless and amazing she will be in our mythology. Beyond her beauty, her intellect her Oscar, haha is this profound soul who will add something you might not have expected but yearned for.

  • Jason Momoa joining Vin Diesel in ‘Fast and Furious 10’

    By ANI

WASHINGTON: Universal Pictures never fail to impress their fans! This time they are adding ‘Aquaman’ star Jason Momoa to play a key role in the upcoming part of Vin Diesel lead ‘Fast and Furious’ film series.

As per The Hollywood Reporter, Momoa is in final negotiations to join the cast of what is being called ‘Fast and Furious 10’ as a working title.

Reports suggest the plot details are being muffled and the ‘Aquaman’ actor could be one of the film’s villains.

Justin Lin, who returned to the franchise with 2021’s ‘F9: The Fast Saga,’ is back to don the director’s hat. Longtime stars Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibson, Chris ‘Ludacris’ Bridges and Sung Kang are also returning for the 10th installment.

Charlize Theron, who first appeared in the eighth film, ‘The Fate of the Furious,’ and returned for F9, is also expected to be back.

Diesel and Lin are producing the 10th installment.

The search for a new star began after Dwayne Johnson refused to return to the franchise, despite Diesel’s plea for him to come back after skipping F9.

However, because the script is still a work in progress, it is unclear whether Momoa’s part is protagonist or antagonistic in nature, or perhaps even both.

It is unclear who else would return for Fast 10 which shoots this spring. Universal currently has the movie set for a May 19, 2023, release.

  • No chance: Dwayne Johnson rebuffs Vin Diesel’s offer to return for ‘Fast & Furious 10’

    By PTI

LOS ANGELES: Hollywood star Dwayne Johnson has once and for all ruled out the possibility of him returning to the “Fast & Furious” franchise.

Despite a recent attempt at reconciliation from lead star Vin Diesel, Johnson said he remains firm on decision to not appear in any future “Fast & Furious” movie.

“I was very surprised by Vin’s recent post. This past June, when Vin and I actually connected not over social media, I told him directly – and privately – that I would not be returning to the franchise. I was firm yet cordial with my words and said that I would always be supportive of the cast and always root for the franchise to be successful, but that there was no chance I would return. I privately spoke with my partners at Universal as well, all of whom were very supportive as they understand the problem,” Johnson told CNN.

The 49-year-old actor played the role of Luke Hobbs in the long-running film series, beginning with 2011’s “Fast Five”.

He later reprised the role for “Fast & Furious 6” (2013), “Furious 7” (2015) and “The Fate of the Furious” (2017) as well as the 2019 spinoff “Hobbs & Shaw”.

Johnson had a major fall out with Diesel during the making of “The Fate of the Furious” that resulted in the actor dropping out of the latest instalment, “Fast and Furious 9”, which released earlier this year.

In November, Diesel had extended an olive branch to Johnson by writing an open letter and asking the actor to return to the franchise for the upcoming 10th instalment.

Johnson called Diesel’s post an “example of his manipulation”.

“I didn’t like that he brought up his children in the post, as well as Paul Walker’s death. Leave them out of it. We had spoken months ago about this and came to a clear understanding,” the “Red Notice” star said.

He asserted that he ended his “Fast & Furious” journey with “gratitude and grace” and sent his best wishes to the rest of the team for the upcoming movie.

“It’s unfortunate that this public dialogue has muddied the waters. Regardless, I’m confident in the ‘Fast’ universe and its ability to consistently deliver for the audience, and I truly wish my former co-stars and crew members the best of luck and success in the next chapter,” Johnson said.

The next movie in the series will hit the theatres on April 7, 2023.

Diesel will play the lead role of Dominic Toretto, while regular series cast members Tyrese Gibson, Sung Kang, Chris “Ludacris” Bridges, Jordana Brewster and Michelle Rodriguez are also expected to return.

Filmmaker Justin Lin will be directing the film.

  • ‘Will never forget what you told me’: Vin Diesel pens emotional note on Paul Walker’s death anniversary

    By ANI

WASHINGTON: It’s been eight years since ‘Fast & Furious’ star Paul Walker passed away. Remembering him, his friend and actor Vin Diesel opened up about the impact Walker had on his family.

Taking to Instagram, Diesel penned a note, recalling the advice Walker gave him during a pivotal moment in his life.

“I can remember that day when you and I were filming that scene in F4 where we were eating Chinese food and we had a brother combat scene which ended in you saying ‘Letty just wanted you to come home Dom…’ When we were done filming that day you came into my trailer and asked, what’s on your mind? You always knew when something was on my mind,” Vin began. “…I told you that I was about to have a baby and didn’t know what to expect at the hospital which I was heading to after work,” he wrote.

He continued, “Will never forget what you told me… you said a lot of tough guys will tell you to wait outside of the delivery room, but that’s wrong. Go in there, actually cut the umbilical cord and it will be the best day of your life. You of course, was talking from experience, having already an angel of your own. It’s been eight years today… and not a day goes by that I don’t reflect of the brotherhood we were blessed to have… but you know that.”

Diesel then revealed that at Walker’s daughter Meadow’s recent wedding, Hania (Vin’s daughter) was her maid of honor.

“Tragedies in life are always followed by life’s blessings if you just stay open and have faith. Look at this photo Pablo, it will make you smile. The same angel that you helped me prepare for in the most beautiful way with your brotherly advice is the same angel that precious Meadow asked to be her Maid of Honor,” he added.

Expressing his love for Walker, Diesel concluded, “How could I have known that back on the 2008 set of Fast… but maybe somehow you did. Miss you. My children always tell me that uncle Paul is with you dad, always… and I know in my heart that they are right. Miss you Pablo.”

Walker died in a car accident on November 30, 2013.

  • Vin Diesel publicly requests Dwayne Johnson to return to ‘Fast and Furious’ franchise

    By ANI

WASHINGTON: ‘Fast & Furious’ star Vin Diesel has penned an open invite to Dwayne Johnson, urging him to return to the film franchise for its 10th part.

In the invite, Diesel publicly requested Dwayne to let go of the hard feelings and reprise his role as Agent Lucas Hobbs in ‘Fast & Furious 10’.

“My little brother Dwayne… the time has come. The world awaits the finale of Fast 10. As you know, my children refer to you as Uncle Dwayne in my house. There is not a holiday that goes by that they and you don’t send well wishes… but the time has come. Legacy awaits,” he wrote on Instagram.

For the unversed, reports of the tiff between Diesel and Dwayne first surfaced in 2016 when they clashed for the last time on the set of ‘The Fate of the Furious’. They have been exchanging barbs in the media ever since Dwayne made an Instagram post in 2016 referring to Diesel and in which he questioned his professionalism, reported The Hollywood Reporter.

Expressing his wishes for Dwayne to come on board once again, Diesel added, “I told you years ago that I was going to fulfill my promise to Pablo. I swore that we would reach and manifest the best Fast in the finale that is 10! I say this out of love… but you must show up, do not leave the franchise idle you have a very important role to play. Hobbs can’t be played by no other. I hope that you rise to the occasion and fulfill your destiny.”

Dwayne is yet to respond to Diesel publicly.
